Castor oil packs: The Basics

Supplies Required

  • Castor oil
  • heating pad/ hot water bottle
  • piece of cotton or flannel
  • towel or plastic
  • Storage container

Preparation

  • Take the cloth that you’ve prepared and place it in the container.
  • Saturate the cloth with castor oil but not to the point where it’s dripping wet.
  • Place the oil-soaked cloth over the part of the body that’s being treated ( over liver, thyroid, abdomen,

Use

  • Cover the cloth with a towel or plastic bag to prevent staining and then place hot water bottle or heating pad over top.
  • Leave it on for 45-60 mins.
  • Once done, place the pack back in a covered container (or a baggie) to re-use.
  • Store in fridge and remove a few hours before use to bring to room temperature.
  • Optimal results do daily

Caution: Women in child bearing years can do a castor oil pack on day 1 – 14 or ovulation in the pelvic region. Or full cycle if certain that they are not pregnant. This is not medical advice. Consult your health care professional for advice as there are some instances where it is not recommended.
